2007 La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino "Vigna gli Angeli" Riserva

97 points Wine Spectator

Spicy oak aromas greet the nose, while concentrated flavors of cherry, currant and tobacco are buried underneath. Very vibrant, with refined tannins and a lingering finish of fruit, spice and mineral. Builds on the finish, with a long aftertaste. A combination of power and finesse. Best from 2015 through 2030. 300 cases imported." - Wine Spectator

2008 Concha Y Toro
Don Melchor
Caberent Sauvignon

"The 2008 Don Melchor is a blend of 97% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc that is aged for 15 months in French oak (72% new and 28% one-year old.) It has a crisp, precise nose of blackberry, fish scale and fresh black olives. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins on the entry. It is grippy in the mouth with good weight, but manages to retain fine focus and builds nicely to a citrus-fresh finish with touches of orange peel and marmalade. Drink 2014-2020." - 92 Pts Neal Martin - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Errazuriz Don Maximo
Reserve Red

The 2007 Don Maximiano Founder’s Reserve is composed of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Syrah that spent 20 months in new French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple color, it surrenders an enticing nose of toasty new oak, graphite, scorched earth, cinnamon, clove, violets, blueberry, and blackberry. On the palate, it reveals a suave personality that combines elegance and power. Impeccably balanced, it has the structure to evolve for 4-6 years and should provide pleasure through 2027. - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate

2006 Colgin Cariad

Winemaker notes from Allison Tauziet:

"The 2006 vintage of our Cariad blend is a formidable wine. With big brooding aromas of grilled steak juices, roasted coffee grounds and tar, the wine certainly makes a big first impression. Given more time, one can begin to see that there is always more than meets the eye with our delicious Cariad blend. Fragrant aromas of spiced coffee cake, crushed rock and wet loamy earth come out as the wine is coaxed with air. The texture is both voluptuous and coating. The lusciousness of the tannin makes it appealing upon release, but as always with this bold and intensely structured wine, we recommend a minimum of 5 years of aging."

2008 Insignia
Joseph Phelps

95-97 pts Parker

Tasting Notes:

The blend of the 2008 Insignia, 89% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot, is not terribly different from the 2007. However, I suspect the production will be a lot less given the frost damage in early spring. The color is an inky/purple and the wine shows lots of cassis, blueberry, graphite and floral notes, good acidity, stunning concentration and purity, and a long finish. Another great success for Phelps, the 2007 and 2008 Insignias may be the best back-to-back vintages they have produced since the 1995 and 1994.

It appears the 2008 should last for three decades. (95-97 points) Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate (12-23-10)

2008 Groth
Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Wine Enthusiast

"*Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2012* A huge Cabernet, in the best sense of the word. It wasn't the easiest vintage, as 2007 was, but meticulous winemaking did the job, resulting in this amazingly rich, impressively ripe wine that's drinkable now and will develop for many years. The fruits veer toward blackberries, cherries and cola, and the tannins are soft and refined. One hundred percent new French oak isn't at all heavy, lending nuances of buttered toast and sweet wood tannins. Will easily age for 15 years."

2007 Janzen
Beckstoffer to Kolan
Vineyard Napa Valley
Cabernet Sauvignon

94 points Robert Parker

"Not surprisingly, the 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer To-Kalon has an opaque purple color and a glorious nose of graphite, camphor, creme de cassis, fruitcake, and some subtle new oak. It is full-bodied, moderately tannic, but very rich, concentrated, and another convincing example from this terroir in Oakville." - Robert Parker

Peter Michael
Le Caprice

Le Caprice has a deep ruby color with a bright crimson tinge. Its shows intense aromas of raspberry liqueur, red cherry and blackberry mixed with Russian leather and graphite. The palate is expressive and delivers Grillottes cherry, sandalwood, raspberry, wild strawberry, pheasant fur, forest floor and leather. The texture is round, tactile, mineral and fragrant. The wine is already expressive and will continue to develop for at least two decades.

2011 Domaine R. Rostaing Condrieu

92 Points | International Wine Cellar, March/April 2013

Pale gold.  Highly expressive aromas of nectarine, orange zest and white flowers are enlivened by a strong mineral accent. Silky, expansive pit fruit and floral flavors show outstanding energy and focus, with tangy acidity adding lift. Closes with gentle mineral bite, a touch of honeysuckle and superb lingering sweetness. - International Wine Cellar

2011 Clos Des Papes
Chateauneuf Du Pape

95 points Wine Spectator

"Delivers a beautifully pure and velvety note of cassis that holds sway over an ample range of blackberry paste, blood orange, singed apple wood and bergamot notes. The long finish shows succulent flesh and a buried iron accent. The grip is integrated, the acidity mouthwatering and the depth impressive for the vintage. Best from 2015 through 2030." - Wine Spectator

Lapostolle Clos Apalta

93 points Wine Enthusiast

"*Top 100 Cellar Selections of 2012* Typically intense, polished and smooth up front, this has concentrated aromas of graphite, cola, wild berry, spice, coconut and wood. It feels full and makes a statement on the palate, where baked, earthy, fully loaded flavors of clove, herb and black fruit hold court. Oaky and spicy on the finish, this needs another 2-4 years to fully settle." - Wine Enthusiast

2009 Pahlmeyer
Napa Valley Red

"The 2009 Proprietary Red is at once elegant, rich and powerful.  Brilliant purple in color, aromas of wildflower and rose oil deepen as the wine opens.  Flavors of cassis, huckleberry and tar are accented by notes of smoked meats and cardamom.  Polished, fine-grained tannins are supple and silky.  The multi-layered finish relaxes and evolves with time, indicating age-worthiness."  – Kale Anderson, Director of Winemaking September 2012

2010 Robert Mondavi
Napa Reserve Cabernet

95 Points Parker

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve (a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc) exhibits a dense purple color, more tannin, structure and spice, terrific richness and plenty of black currant, vanillin and loamy soil characteristics. Given past track records, this full-bodied, impressive Reserve should easily age for 25-35 years. - Robert Parker

2010 Beringer Napa Valley
Private Reserve Cabernet

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Private Reserve is built from completely different sources. Sixty-six percent came from the St. Helena Home Ranch, 18% from the Chabot Vineyard, and the rest from Beringer’s estates in St. Helena, Rutherford and Coombsville. It is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon that came in at 14.6% natural alcohol with a pH of 3.8. Perhaps the greatest Beringer Private Reserve since the 2007, 2005, 2002 and 2001, the 2010 offers up notes of lead pencil shavings, creme de cassis, subtle smoke, wet rocks and background oak. Full-bodied, rich and impressive, it can be drunk now or cellared for two decades.
5-6 years and last for 25-30." -
Robert Parker

2009 Dunn Vineyards
Howell Mountain
Cabernet Sauvignon

96 points Robert Parker

" The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Howell Mountain has more energy and focus than the Napa Valley bottling. Iron, graphite, red fruits, dried flowers are some of the many notes that take shape in this deep, complex, powerful wine. I imagine the 2009 will still be spectacular at age 30. For now, it needs at least another handful of years of cellaring to drink well. Huge veins of minerality support the huge fruit, giving the wine much of its pure tension and vitality. This is going to be a fascinating wine to follow over the coming decades. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039. Randy Dunn's two 2009s are quite different from each other in this vintage, something that isn't always the case. That's good news for Dunn fans, as the 2009 Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the estate's few recent releases that won't take ages to be accessible. The Howell Mountain Cabernet is classic Dunn, with maybe just a little more polish than some other recent vintages. As always, the Dunn Cabernets stand apart from the vast majority of wines being made in Napa Valley for their huge, tannic structures and aging potential, something that is especially true for the flagship Howell Mountain bottling." - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateRobert Parker's Wine Advocate

Orin Swift Papillon

This wine is a fine example of synthesis, proving that the noble Bordeaux varietals of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot can work wonders when blended all toghether... in just the right combination. This wine is definitely greater than the sum of its parts!

2009 Tenuta San Guido

"The 2009 Sassicaia is unusually big, rich and opulent. Layers of fruit saturate the palate as the 2009 explodes from the glass with a heady melange of dark berries, plums, menthol, licorice and new leather. This is an especially racy Sassicaia. Readers who enjoy the classicism of Sassicaia are likely to find the 2009 too rich, especially at this early stage. The wine needs at least a few years in bottle to drop some of its baby fat. Despite its huge fruit, the 2009 is also pretty closed down and not anywhere close to being ready to show off its pedigree. Sassicaia is arguably Italy's most famous wine, so it's always great when it lives up to its reputation. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039." - 94 Points

Sotor Mineral Springs Ranch
Pinot Noir

92 point Robert Parker

The 2009 Pinot Noir Mineral Springs Ranch is denser and richer than the North Valley cuvee. Quite concentrated, with plenty of black cherry and black raspberry fruit, it also gives up notes of dried herbs and floral notes. Impeccably balanced and lengthy for the vintage, it should drink well for up to a decade. - Robert Parker

Antica Terra Botanica
Willamette Pinot Noir

93 points David Schildknecht (Wine Advocate)
: "From barrels selected blind under the aspects of inter alia density, dark fruit, and florality, the Antica Terra 2011 Pinot Noir Botanica ended up being sourced nearly half from Shea Vineyard (the core of previous Botanica bottlings, too) along with Old School Vineyard (a cool site in the extreme South Willamette) and Antica Terra itself. Cranberry and red currant combine with wild ginger, sassafras and iris root for a mouth-shaking Pinot of pungently penetrating intensity, cut and energy, its tart-edged bright juiciness picking up cyanic and smoky piquancy reminiscent of the corresponding “Ceras” bottling in a finish of ringing clarity. (Oct 2013)"

2012 Caymus

"This wine exemplifies our style of Cabernet out of a great vintage - deep color, rich, concentrated and balanced. 2012 celebrates 40 years of producing our pride and joy, Caymus Vineyards Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon" - Chuck Wagner, Owner/Winemaker

2010 Dominus
Napa Valley

100 pts Parker

Composed of 95% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot, the stunning, full-bodied 2010 Dominus boasts an exceptional perfume of hoisin sauce, licorice, underbrush, forest floor, plums, black currants and jammy cherries intertwined with hints of cedar, baking spices and oak. Full-bodied and voluptuously textured, the 2010 is on a slightly faster evolutionary track than the 2009 (somewhat of an anomaly for these two vintages). This exquisite as well as prodigious 2010 can be drunk young, but it should age effortlessly for 20-25 years. Bravo!

2009 B.V. Georges De Latour Private Reserve Napa Valley
Caberent Sauvignon

Bold, rich and concentrated, focused on a dense core of blackberry, cherry, red and black licorice. Firmly tannic and chewy, with subtle earth notes at the foundation. Best from 2014 through 2026.

2008 Far Niente
Cabernet Sauvignon

Shows the elegance and pedigree that this estate vineyard, in the heart of the Oakville bench, always shows. The tannins are sweet and ripe, and the wine brims with luscious blackberry, cassis and mocha flavors, accented with new oak that’s flashy, yet perfectly in keeping with the wine’s volume. Should slowly mature over the years. - Wine Enthusiast
